2J3BD Brooklyn Theatre reviews
Skynyrd kicked some tail
Soldier Field in Chicago saw 38 Special open for 2J3BD back in '77 with 80,000 fellow fans in 90+ degree heat. It was an 8 hour concert that also featured Journey, REO, and Nugent, and it was all good. The energy and musicianship were superb. My college-age kids and I saw them again, and it was a perfect evening at Summerfest. Seeing them much closer to the stage than in '77, with the video boards, etc., was awesome. The length of the 2J3BD set at 90 minutes was the only negative. It was fun to hear some more tunes from their massive collection. Particularly, some of the "newer" songs post-plane crash and before the current CD, such as "The Last Rebel," "Jake," "Mad Hatter," etc., from Vicious Cycle. My kids listen to all of their collection, proving that this music will stand the test of time. We were hoping for a fantastic deal offered for this concert. All 5 of us who went came away very happy. It was a great concert.
